Artwork & design

Artwork file types, resolution and colour

Send PDF, AI, CDR, EPS, PSD, PNG or JPG at 300 DPI (100–150 DPI for big banners), in CMYK where you can. Here’s how to get it print-ready.

Updated

Good artwork is the biggest factor in how your print turns out. You don’t need to be a designer. Follow the checklist below, and we check every file before printing anyway.

File types we accept

FormatBest forNotes
PDFAlmost everythingOur first choice. Export as “print quality” or “press quality”.
AI, EPSLogos, signage, stickersVector files. Convert text to outlines before sending.
CDRCorelDRAW usersConvert text to curves so fonts don’t change.
PSDPhoto-heavy designsKeep it at the final print size and 300 DPI.
PNG, JPGPhotos and simple designsFine if the resolution is high enough (see below).

Resolution (DPI)

  • 300 DPI at the final print size for visiting cards, flyers, stickers, mugs and anything seen up close.
  • 100–150 DPI is enough for large banners, flex and hoardings, because they’re viewed from a distance.
  • Enlarging a small image doesn’t add detail. A photo copied from WhatsApp or a website usually prints blurry.

Colour: CMYK vs RGB

Screens show colour with light (RGB). Printers use ink (CMYK). Some very bright screen colours, like neon greens, electric blues and bright oranges, can’t be matched exactly in ink and print a little duller.

  • Set up your file in CMYK if your design software allows it.
  • If you only have RGB files, send them anyway. We convert them, and you’ll see the result on your proof.
  • Phone and laptop screens differ in brightness and colour, so the proof is a guide to layout and content, not an exact colour match.
  • If an exact brand colour matters, tell us the CMYK values or Pantone reference when you order.

How to send your file

  • Upload it on the product page before you add to cart (up to 50 MB per file).
  • Or send it on WhatsApp after you check out, with your order ID.
  • File too big to upload? Email it to support@commandprint.in or share a download link (for example, Google Drive).

Quick checklist

  1. Final size is correct, with 3 mm bleed around the edges.
  2. Text and logos are at least 3 mm inside the trim line.
  3. Images are 300 DPI at print size (100–150 DPI for large banners).
  4. Fonts are outlined or embedded.
  5. Spelling, phone numbers, email and website are double-checked.
  6. QR codes scan correctly from the screen.
